466: Collide

Scrolling through my music tracklist, I realised that there are a few “older” songs that I find myself going back time and again for a second listen, a third, a fourth and typically it ends up with me listening to the song on loop for a full week. It keeps me company as I stare out through the windows of the cold morning bus on the way to work, as I walk through the bustling streets alone, as I do my work deep into the quiet evening in the hospital, as I stare into empty spaces on the train back home and as I go for my weekly runs. I need my continuous intratympanic infusion of such therapeutic songs to get my days going! “Collide” is such a beautiful song, ain’t it? (:

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Collide by Howie Day

The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You’re barely waking
And I’m tangled up in you
Yeah

I’m open, you’re closed
Where I follow, you’ll go
I worry I won’t see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

I’m quiet you know
You make a first impression
I’ve found I’m scared to know I’m always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Don’t stop here
I lost my place
I’m close behind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide
