186: Fried Rice & MOS Hokkaido Ice Cream

Fried us some fried rice for lunch today. The fried rice contains a simple bulgogi-marinated beef bits/chunks, carrot chunks, fresh shitake mushroom slices and egg! Really simple and easy to cook!

And yesterday, Sis and I went down to WM’s MOS Burger for lunch. I had yakiniku rice burger and Sis had her usual MOS cheeseburger. They were having this Hokkaido ice-cream for their seasonal dessert special. We decided to get one to try. The flavours that were available were Green Tea, Mango and Milk Chocolate. The green tea was out of stock so we settled for mango. And the ice-cream was rather strange! The texture of the ice-cream doesn’t feel like ice-cream at all. It was semi-pudding, semi-icecream. Really strange! The ice-cream probably contained too much carrageenan (a gum) since it was listed in the ingredients list. And it did not resemble the ice-cream we ate at Hokkaido at all! The only redeeming point was that it was not sweet at all. But I wouldn’t want to try this ice-cream ever again.

Kind of regretted this choice! We should have gone up to Udders on the 2nd level for a much much much better ice-cream at approximately the same price! I love Udders ice-cream and there are other flavours that I want to try! ๐Ÿ™‚ And speaking of which, I should have bought a pint home yesterday! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

185: Beauty, Scent, Luck and Eternal Closure!

My parents are avid plant growers. My mum had been really excited the past few days, announcing to us that her flower was going to bloom. According to my mum, this plant only blooms really really rarely (the plant belongs to the cactus family) and the flower will only bloom at midnight (or night). And when it blooms, it will be really nice smelling! I know only the Hokkien name of the flower, the parents refer to it as the “keng huey“.

And so the flower bloomed last night while all of us were fast asleep! And the parents only discovered it this morning that the flower had bloomed. So I took a picture of the flower but by then, the petals of the flower were already closed.

I did some little research and the flower my Mum was talking about is probably the Night Blooming Cereus, a plant belonging to the Cactus family.

According to a source, “one of the strangest plants of the desert, the Night-blooming Cereus is a member of the Cactus Family that resembles nothing more than a dead bush most of the year. It is rarely seen in the wild because of its inconspicuousness. But for one midsummer’s night each year, its exqusitely scented flower opens as night falls, then closes forever with the first rays of the morning sun.”

And I was really intrigued that it only blooms for one midsummer’s night each year! But its beauty is really short-lasting. When dawn breaks, the flower will close and bid farewell to this world forever. What a tragic and sad tale! But my Mum was saying that with every bloom, the flower will bring us luck. We could do with more luck, if this “myth” is right. So many things have happened to us (my family) in the past few weeks and months! I hope things will turn for the better from this moment onwards and all of us will stay healthy and happy!

And I did a search on youtube and found that there were some souls out there who captured the bloom of the Night Blooming Cereus on camera. It is really pretty amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

184: My Darling Pumpkin

Just a post that’s going to be filled with 2 pictures of my super adorable and lazy hamster, Pumpkin:) I love this little guy TTM!

This little guy just loves to sleep all day long. Here’s my little friend lazing on his exercise wheel again. I was busy snapping photos of him lazing on the wheel and he chose to ignore me totally. And I got the ‘message’ and disappeared after taking the few shots, only to return to see him asleep on the wheel after a little while. I think my little guy must be really tired and he doesn’t have the energy to play with him on that day. Sorry that the pictures aren’t really clear!

And here’s the other favourite activity of my little Pumpkin. Eating! Here’s my little guy munching and nibbling on a fresh carrot cube. Super adorable!

This little guy is just so fortunate! All he does is eat, sleep, eat and sleep (and the cycle carries on) all day long.

183: Why I Love My Bus Rides >> MRT Rides?

I know this is really old news. They (Ministry of Transport) are looking into cross-country bus services. And looking forward to improving the current transport system in a hub and spoke system, where long bus routes are split, and feeder bus services connect them to MRT stations. Many have spoken up, written and voiced their opinions on this issue when the news broke up early this month. And I was just thinking about my long bus rides to school, to work (in the past) and to town. And why exactly do I prefer bus rides, when I have a choice of taking the MRT to these places.

I love watching the world pass me by. Often, when I board a bus, with my earpiece and mp3 in place, I settle in a cosy corner in the bus, staring out of the huge glass window panels and watch the world pass me by. And this is my form of “emo” (in my informal conversational terms with a friend of mine). A time for me to have my me-time. I love just listening to music from my mp3 and watching the many people on the streets, scuttering around to get to places. I love watching and gushing over the occasional cute and really adorable pet dogs/cats with their owners on the streets.

And I love it when it starts pouring really heavily outside and I love listening to the patter of the rain against the glass panels. I love waiting for the bus at the bus stop when it starts pouring really heavily (never mind that I’ll be all moist and wet while waiting), hearing the patter of the rain against the metal shelters of the bus stops and feeling the cool breeze kiss my moist wet skin.

And I love it when it’s late at night and I’m on my bus journey home. The night scene, equally breathtaking. The many lights in the distance against the dark night sky. There will be less people or cats or dogs or pets on the streets for me to watch as the bus pass by. But I love watching the serenity of the nightscene as the bus passes by the many places. And the best part, walking along the streets home from the bus stop, enjoying the cool night breeze, my path illuminated only by the many streetlamps that line the vacant streets and the headlamps of the few cars that traverse down the lonely road.

And I love bus rides when the bus is empty or partially empty, and I have the entire seat to myself. Something I do not like about MRT rides is the crowd. The buses are crowded at times too. But somehow, I am always stuck in situations on the MRT when I am packed tight, skin-to-skin with the person next to me. And I get really awkward because I don’t know where to look. When there’s a chance, and I’m lost in the midst of a packed train, staring at the ground/the floor seems like the only non-awkward solution. Whereas on a crowded bus ride home, no matter how squashed I am, I can always stare out of the wide glass window panels.

Yups:) Reasons why I love my bus rides. Please don’t scrap my long bus rides, oh please.

182: Disappointment

What is wrong with people these days? And seriously, what is wrong with Men these days? How can they just change just like that?

And I’m talking about a recent shocking revelation that stunned us all. My aunt (my dad’s sister) is asking for a divorce with her husband cause he was cheating behind her back. My very first thoughts were, “what about the kids?” My cousins are only 8 and 11 years old respectively and they are both still so young. Plus they are both really adorable kids! I cannot help thinking that they will soon be part of a broken family. Please, no, please spare the kids of these torture.

What is wrong with Men these days? This is not the first incident of adultery in my family. Over at my maternal side, my uncle (my mum’s brother) divorced his wife of 10 years a few years ago. And he recently remarried (the third party in their relationship is currently my new aunt)

All along, I’ve always thought that my aunt (my dad’s sister) and her husband are quite the perfect couple. Her husband (my uncle) comes from a really wealthy family and they have been living rather harmoniously for many years. There is a saying that, once a Man is rich and powerful, he will go around committing such acts of adultery. Just as in the local entertainment scene with the recent revelation about Jack Neo and his acts of adultery, it seems like my aunt is going through the exact situation. It seems like the plot of the dramas I’ve been watching. Oh and before I forget, while I was intern-ing last year, I do know of a particular colleagueย  A who had an affair with another colleague B. A soon divorced his wife (who was pregnant at that time) to be with B, but B was apparently tired of A and was preparing to move on to another target (B is a serial ‘playgirl’). As a respected professional, I would expect these people to have certain moral principles as well.

How can someone change so much? A marriage is not just a piece of paper (the marriage certificate), the vows (the solemnisation) or the elaborate ceremonies. It’s much more. When you sign yourself up for marriage, it’s commitment for life. It’s the promise that the two parties will spend their lives together. And if you’re not prepared to commit yourself to one another for life, why marry? You might jolly well, spend your life, with different partners as you wish.

And the kids. The children are often the victims of a divorce! For my mum’s brother, the couple had no kids so they did not have to worry about this aspect at all. It’s often the women who would have to bear all the hurt and pain in such an event. It will be really magnanimous if a woman is willing to forgive her husband for his misdeeds (should he be willing to repent too) for the sake of the kids. I feel that it is really unjust that the women will have to cave in in such a situation and that the cheating husband deserves his greatest punishment ever (and not be able to return to his happy family after all the ruckus he has created). But for the sake of the children, the best decision would be for the couple to forget everything and start everything over again and live for the kids.

Mum just informed me that the cheating husband of my aunt (dad’s sister) did not return home last night after all the ruckus created. The very culprit’s family is also unable to locate him at all. So currently, nobody is able to locate his presence.

I’m praying that my aunt’s husband will return back to his family after all the ‘fun’ he has enjoyed. I don’t wish to see another broken family again. And for my cousins to grow up in a broken family.

And I hope this will not make me lose confidence in marriage itself. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I’m really disappointed because they are adults and they should have the maturity to distinguish what is morally right.

181: Vegetarian Stir-fried Udon (Yasai Yaki Udon)

I’m really really proud of my first attempt. My first attempting at cooking vegetarian stir-fried udon (yasai yaki udon). I usually eat really easy to cook meals –ย  noodles soup, macaroni soup, udon soup, fried rice, steamed sweet potato, salad, sandwiches etc. And today I decided to cook us some vegetarian stir-fried udon!

My stir-fried udon comes with carrot strips, fresh shitake mushrooms and sio pek chye (xiao bai cai).

I followed the recipe from this site, Food-4Tots. I really like this site! The instructions/recipe are really easy to follow! And I’m so glad that the udon I stir-fried today was really good! Not bad for a first attempt!

YAYS!:)

180: My Exam Food Stash!

Exam food = Junk food.

I’ve three tupperware-filled junk/exam food just by my study desk.

First up, here’s Arnott’s Lemon Crisps. I used to love Khong Guan’s Lemon Biscuits. Arnott’s Lemon Crisps are rather similar to Khong Guan’s Lemon Biscuits but they are definitely tastier. It’s no surprise that these made-in-Australia biscuits (versus those made-in-Singapore or made-in-Malaysia ones) come at a higher cost, maybe twice the price of the Khong Guan ones.

And after my rather bad experience with Julie’s Butter Waffles, I’m back with my new box of Jules Destrooper’s Butter Crisps waffles. And I just wanna say “I’m glad you’re back in my life.” ๐Ÿ™‚

And yes, Mr Ito’s Langully Vanila Cream Sandwich Langue de Chat cookies. Courtesy of the little sister. So sweet of her:) They don’t come cheap but I like Langue de Chat cookies. I cannot remember the brand name of the other Langue de Chat cookies that I prefer. That Langue de Chat cookies were yummier than this Mr Ito’s Langully. But still, Mr Ito’s Langully cookies are delicious. But Shiroi Koibito Langue de Chat cookies win them all, hands down. If only they can be bought easily in Singapore ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

And in a secret corner of the kitchen, I discovered two big bags of kiwifruits. My parents must have stocked up on kiwifruits on their recent marketing trip. I guess, it must be the season of kiwifruits! And I love kiwifruits! Just had one after lunch today.

I know I sound ironic. The tupperware of junk food = sugar, sugar and sugar. But here I am, trying to satisfy my sugar cravings by having fruits instead. I had a Packham pear in the late morning, a kiwifruit after lunch. And I’m thinking of a Granny Smith green apple in the afternoon. Even with the junk food right in front of me, I’m trying to stop myself from ingesting them. They are what I’ll call, emergency stand-by food.

179: Random, Food, Random, Food, Random

It’s back to being random again. Today, it’ll just be some really random pictures of food I’ve ingested the past many days. I’m getting bored, with nothing to shop online. The two dresses I ordered online are via backorders and they’ll only be in many/fewย  weeks later. How sad, nothing to look forward to in the mail. But my favourite BS is updating tomorrow evening so at least, there will be something to look forward to tomorrow.

I’m bored and feeling really random.

First up, MAINS! This is the wholemeal chilli tuna sandwich I had for one of the weekday lunches, made using the jaffle iron/sandwich maker.

And then, this was lunch for today. Mummy’s Japchae (์žก์ฑ„). Korean sweet potato ‘glass’ noodles with beef, spinach, fresh shitake mushrooms and egg. Yum, I love ์žก์ฑ„.

And Sis and I made some warabimochi (่•จ้ค…) this afternoon. In fact, I think it was I who did most of the job. That girl is (oops haha!) rather hopeless in the kitchen, it gets a little frustrating working together with her and getting her to do stuff. And I love the kinako (ใใชใ“)/toasted soybean flour that is dusted on the mochi!

And this really ‘gross-looking’ dissected stuff was the molten chocolate cake I had with cookies & cream ice-cream one weekday afternoon. I’m sorry for the really unappetizing photo but the cake was just too yummy and I couldn’t resist! It was just the perfect amount of chocolate! Rich and oh so good when it’s warm! The ice-cream was a perfect accompaniment too. And I have something proud to share! I’ve been wanting to recreate the ‘crispy’ outer crust of Bakerzin’s warm chocolate cake and I have succeeded this time round. The trick is to dust a fine layer of icing sugar (on the well-buttered sides of the mould), before pouring in the cake batter.

And now, time for some junk food. Sis bought this box of cookies for me just the other day (I’m quite touched. That girl rarely gives treats, you know). Border Butterscotch Crunch cookies from Scotland! They were buttery and just yummy:)

And yes, here’s two mini packs of Meiji 86% dark chocolate from Ah Yi. I love my dark chocolates. This is the 86% one and the max I can stomach. I like the 86% dark chocolate. The Meiji 99% dark chocolate was quite a painful experience for me, the explosion of flavours in my mouth was just too weird for me to stomach. I remembered that it was sour and bitter at the same time. More sour than bitter!

And to end off, my favourite pug, Ken-chan. And no, I don’t have a dog. I wished I had one though. Ken-chan is the super adorable dog from my favourite japanese drama, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. Here’s Ken-chan, looking ever so forlorn. He loves japanese cucumbers!

178: To Market, To Market, To Buy Some Ice-Cream!

I am really sad! Dropped by Cold Storage to get my Tillamook but it was OUT OF STOCK. In fact, I kind of expected that it would be out of stock. I’m living in quite a well-off estate (I mean the people living around me are pretty well-off, me excluded) and the residents are those we are willing to pay anything for good quality stuff (ice-cream?). With sis tagging along, when I was about to remove one of those Anderson’s Vanilla Beans ice-cream pints off the shelf, I had to endure with her constant nags that “that’s too expensive”. How ironic! She will be willing to pay $12 to buy her pint of Ben & Jerry’s Dublin Mudslide. But she refused to allow me to buy my $12 a pint Anderson’s Vanilla Beans ice cream. Someday, I will be the proud owner of an ice-cream maker/machine and I will churn out my very own vanilla beans ice cream. Well, so in the end, I had to settle for those local ice-creams, that were retailing at $6 for a 1.5L tub. I chose Meadow Gold’s Cookies & Cream ice cream.

And I got a rude shock just now! Found the waffles that Sis was talking about (before I bought the Jules Destrooper ones). It turned out to be Julie’s Butter Waffles. I’m so going to faint! So the waffles she has been looking for are the Julie’s one! I’m not looking down on Julie’s, a Malaysian based biscuits manufacturer. But it’s just that all along she gave me the impression that the waffles that she has been looking for are those high-class manufactured in the EU ones.

But anyway, back to the rude shock! I bought a box of Julie’s Butter Waffles to try. The shape of the waffles are practically identical to those Jules Destrooper ones. But they look so different! The Julie’s ones were pale yellow while the Jules Destrooper’s ones were nicely browned. And they taste SO DIFFERENT! I love the faint buttery and caramelised taste of the Jules Destrooper’s ones. So I was expecting the Julie’s to taste somewhat similar. But they were just so different. Julie’s Butter Waffles taste more like eggy flour to me. No buttery taste. Just sweetened eggy flour! Still, they are edible. But once you’ve tried the Jules Destrooper’s ones, you’ve set those at your benchmark cause they are really just too yummy. But the Jules Destrooper Butter Crisp Waffles ($4.95-$5.10) are approximately TWICE the price of those Julie’s Butter Waffles ($2.90). But I’m really happy to pay the extra for some good tasting butter waffles!:)

Oh, dropped by 7 Eleven and saw that DayPlus breads were on offer at $1 per bread (they were retailing for around $1.50 at 7 Eleven and $1 in school). I love these breads! I’m always buying them when I drop by the snacks store in my school’s canteen. I love the bread! Love its fluffy and soft texture!

Saw that there were two new flavours! The two new flavours are White Bean Paste with Chestnut and Peanut Bits!

I bought the White Bean Paste with Chestnut one! I love chestnuts:)

And I bought the Maple one. I’ve tried all the other flavours (Melon – my favourite, Caramel – quite nice, Pumpkin, Blueberry, Hokkaido Cream, Red Bean and Chocolate) except for Maple and Cheese.

I’m hoping they will taste yummy too.:)

177: I need my ICE-CREAM fix!

I have been craving for some ice-cream since yesterday. But the weather was so terribly warm in the early afternoon and that kind of deterred me from leaving home just to get some ice cream. So throughout the afternoon, I was planning to quickly finish off what I’ve scheduled to study for the afternoon before dropping by the Cold Storage near my place at around 6pm to get my ice-cream. But the weather turned really nasty in the late afternoon/evening and there was a crazy crazy thunderstorm. And so I refuse to leave home once again because I didn’t want to get drenched in the rain.

But I’m still craving for some ice-cream. I want TILLAMOOK VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM. I saw a few of these at the Cold Storage near my place just a few weeks ago! And they came in a really huge carton (so much larger than the normal pint) and so much cheaper than a normal pint of Haagen Daaz or Ben & Jerry’s. And they go REALLY well with desserts (think, warm lava chocolate cake or brownie)! If I get the ice-cream, it may serve as a motivation for me to bake some soon! You know, I was planning on buying the ice-cream the last time I saw it but decided not to in the end. Why didn’t I? And now, I really want to drop by Cold Storage to get them maybe later at 11am-12noon. But I’ve a huge feeling that they may not be in stock. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I want some vanilla bean ice cream.

Please be in stock, my dear Tillamook Vanilla Bean ice cream. And please, may the weather be good.

176: Pizza (The Instant Frozen Way)

I realised that I’m posting more FOOD photos especially during examination times or when I get really stressed in school! So with the exams in one week’s time, it’s not a surprise that this post is going to be another food related one. And that also, I posted another food related post this morning on the dinner gathering I had last evening!

Anyway, this is going to be another lazy fast instant lunch post! Usually, my lazy fast instant lunch posts are often really simple (mostly) healthy dishes that can be cooked in at most, half an hour. And today, as much as I wish to advocate for healthy eating, I’m going instant alright?

The parents popped by Jusco in JB yesterday and they came home with bags and bags of groceries. This was one of the item they bought. The JUSCO Selection Premium Pizza – Garlic Mushroom. It’s one HUGE instant pizza. I shared the pizza with Sis and Mummy.

The frozen pizza, that requires no defrosting.

Just toss the frozen pizza in a preheated 220 degree Celsius oven! After a whole 10 minutes, they will be ready for consumption. And I’m pretty impressed by this instant frozen pizza! The crust is crispy (yes!) but the pizza dough/bread still remains soft (yes!). The toppings are pretty generous. Love the garlic and mushroom combination!

And yes, after the exams, I am going to attempt these 15 minutes cheater’s pizzas by Nook Cook! They look so delectable! And how innovative! The use of pita bread as the pizza dough! I’m going to try those with paper thin pita breads! I love thin crust pizzas! So the paper thin ones will be great! Since after the exams, we (me and my girls) are planning a mini potluck to celebrate another friend’s birthday. I’m thinking these pita bread pizzas will be terrific! The seafood (shrimps + sotong), hawaiian (ham + pineapples) and mushrooms + olives look terribly delicious! And I would love to attempt some kimbap too! ๐Ÿ™‚ Haha. Terrific.

175: Swiss Culture (Suntec City)

Met up with the girls and the boys yesterday at Swiss Culture at Suntec City for a mini birthday celebration for J. I had a really really good time yesterday, catching up and engaging in our usual teases and gossips. It was fun! Earlier on, we went to E’s house to bake J a cheesecake and we decorated it with lots of Korean strawberries and oreo crumbs and it looked AWESOMELY professional looking (just like Bakerzin’s)! And it tasted super lovely too!!! But I realised that I did not capture pictures of it using my cell camera and so I’ll have to wait for the “official” photographers to upload the pictures on facebook or something!

The service at Swiss Culture was really good. We had instructed the staff to refrigerate the cake earlier. And they had put in a lot of effort in assembling the cake and placing it on a nice yellow plate! And they played the Happy Birthday song over their speakers for us too! Plus, service with a smile! In the end, we shared a portion of the cake with the staff and they liked it a lot too.

Anyway, we ordered the famous cheese fondue to share. My first time trying the cheese fondue and it was good, thick and viscous! Swiss cheese, yums! And I can smell and taste the wine in it! Yums:)

This was the Swiss Culture chicken wings! There were adequately good:) Alright, not spectacular! But still, yummy!:)

This was my main. The Veal Mushroom sausage with rosti and salad side. I thought the rosti was done quite perfectly, much better than the one I ate at Marche the last time. The sausage was good too. Good old comfort food! Loved it:)

They are famous for their Swiss Pork Sausage and the Swiss Zurich-Style chicken. A couple of my friends ordered the Swiss Pork Sausage and the Swiss Zurich-style chicken! I shared my Veal Mushroom Sausage with J and I tried her Swiss Pork Sausage. Both were equally yummy!

This was the Zurich-style chicken. I’m glad I did not order this! The chicken came with a really creamy sauce. And I’m pretty sure that halfway through the meal, I will get sick of the rich creamy sauce. But my friends who ordered this thought it was nice. Well, to each his own?

IN SUMMARY: Good food. Good company. Good service. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a happy girl.

174: Stormy Presence

The calm before the storm.

The family’s out. The parents are together with the grandparents, the aunts, the uncles and the cousins over at Vivocity for the weekly family gathering/feasting/shopping. The sister is out with her friends for dinner ONLY BECAUSE she ends her exams today. And I’m at home BECAUSE my exams are in 8 days’ time. And I need to study!

I’m feeling “edematous”. AH! The stress and all, plus the junk food ingested during this period of studying! Anyway, I’ll just post some images of the junk food for today. I’m going to stop ingesting these junk and back to the normal healthy eating!!!

This was the shitake mushroom and celery egg omelette I panfried just now. It’s actually my dinner. And I used 2 mini eggs for the omelete. The eggs are so tiny cause they are the first-born eggs of the chicken. It was good:)

And now, the new snack! Jules Destrooper’s Butter Crisps! Sis was having a craving for waffles and instructed me to get a box of waffles for her with her really vague description of the packaging. I couldn’t find the waffles she wanted so I got these! And OH MY! These butter crisps waffles are TO DIE FOR! They look so ordinary, so uninteresting. I’ve seen them many times on the shelves but their ordinary appearance is the reason why there wasn’t a reason for me to get them. And I tried Sis’ butter crisps waffles and they are terribly YUMMY! I love the faint butter taste of the waffles. Sis commented that these were far better than those she had originally wanted me to buy (and of course, these were more costly, S$4.95 per box).

And yes, I bought these too! Childhood favourites! I love Glico Collon. Love the cream and the strawberry ones!:)

And I cannot believe this! I met a friend at a nearby mall to get another friend a watch for her birthday (which we are celebrating for her tomorrow). And I bought a watch too! I bought a black Fossil watch ๐Ÿ™‚ Haha it sounds terribly crazy! I know, I know. But the watch is really pretty. I love the mother of pearl dial. And the rim of crystals that lines the watch face. It looks really classy:) We bought the white version for our friend. I hope she likes it too:) We bought the Fossil watches at $35 lower than the typical retail price! The auntie who served us was terribly nice and chatty!

172: Worrywart Me

I’m just back from school and I just had my second korean oral test and I’m feeling super uneasy and insecure about it. I think I screwed up some parts because I was way too too too nervous! But I managed to calm myself down and the roleplay part was pretty good.

I know I shouldn’t worry about Korean since it’s only an unrestricted elective and I still have many S/Us to spare, with only 1 more Breadth to clear before graduation in July 2011. But I’m just giving myself pressure! I got a perfect score the last korean oral test and I really want to do well this time round too. And I really want to get an A+ or an A for this module! But apparently, I think I screwed things up! No chances of keeping with the high score anymore! But there’s still the final term test and also, the skit!

But seriously, I can just S/U it since I have two more S/U functions to spare or they will just go to waste. But really, I want to do well for this. And maybe I can improve on my CAP even more!

But I know I got to MOVE ON because I HAVE THREE TESTS TOMORROW. Including the korean final term test with a huge weightage of 30%. And two really important core modules tests tomorrow too!

I SHOULDN’T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT. What’s done is done. Focus on the present and the future, Rina! But really, I enjoyed Korean and I think I might just continue with level 2 next semester if the timetable fits. Alrights, back to studying!

I’m going to have to burn midnight oil today! I have to at least review the materials for all three tests before I can sleep in peace! So that means, COFFEE! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I haven’t been studying that late recently. And I’ve always been an early sleeper (at least compared to my other friends). And tonight will probably mark the first time this semester that I’m drinking coffee! (in fact, I think it’s longer than this semester). It’s probably my first time in the recent 5-6 months that I’m drinking coffee to keep myself awake to study and also during lectures! That’s quite a good feat. I remembered that Year 2 Sem 2 (a year ago) was the semester that I kept buying coffee to drink because a particular module professor’s voice was really sleep inducing and I was always terribly tired during that semester too. And that professor has moved back to US thereafter.

Alright, enough nonsense. back to WORK!

171: Oh Dear! ๋ฐ•ํ‰ํ˜ธ!

I know I’m two years late. But I’m about to start and embark on 54 episodes of ๊ฐ€๋ฌธ์˜์˜๊ด‘ (Family’s Honor)! And I got a HUGE HUGE feeling that I’m going to like this drama a lot. I really really regret not watching this drama together with the parents during weekends cause I will usually be stuck in my room on weekend evenings either studying or on the net. And it has ended his run on Channel U. So sad ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But yes, I got a HUGE HUGE feeling that I’m going to like this drama a lot.

And I’m more than halfway through ์™„๋ฒฝํ•œ ์ด์›ƒ์„ ๋งŒ๋‚˜๋Š” ๋ฒ• (How to Meet a Perfect Neighbour) and it’s still okay thus far. I’m still hanging on! Because I love watching Park Shi Hoo act.

And yes, there’s ๊ฒ€์‚ฌ ํ”„๋ฆฐ์„ธ์Šค (Prosecutor Princess) Episode 3 on tonight! I seriously cannot wait for the subbed version tomorrow!

I’m pretty sure you know the similarities between these 3 dramas. They all have Park Shi Hoo in them! I have turned a Park Shi Hoo fangirl! How not to watch ๊ฐ€๋ฌธ์˜์˜๊ด‘ when this is one of the dramas that shot him to fame? And he’s terribly adorable so far in the first two episodes of ๊ฒ€์‚ฌ ํ”„๋ฆฐ์„ธ์Šค! Ah, PARK SHI HOO (๋ฐ•์‹œํ›„)! No, his real name is PARK PYUNG HO ( ๋ฐ•ํ‰ํ˜ธ)! I’m a huge fan now!

And the terrible terrible thing is that EXAMS EXAMS ARE COMING UP IN 2-3 WEEKS’ TIME. And I’m still watching dramas! Plus, I’ve four tests this week. A korean oral test tomorrow and three major test/CAs on Friday! I’m glad there’s no school today! For now, it’s back to studying. Then I can reward myself with episodes of Family Honor tonight!:) YAY!

I shall continue my love for Park Shi Hoo in a more detailed post later (if I have the time later!). Haha OOPS!

170: Lunch!

What a terribly boring title to start this post! But never mind! Tomorrow’s the start of a really horrendous week! But I’m doing okay so far. Watching korean dramas at night (after I’m done with the scheduled work of the day) makes me happy and puts my nerves at ease.

Some lunch pictures to share. I have a schedule to follow, hence I had to settle for a quick and easy lunch.

Here’s yesterday’s lunch. Very simple! Just some boiled pumpkins, raw celery, toasted Portobello mushrooms, cheese bits and toasted wholemeal and wheatgerm bread (cut into mini pieces). Tossed with the japanese sesame dressing and plenty of toasted wheatgerm and white sesame seeds.

And today’s lunch. I had to settle for something easy and instant noodles came to my mind. And I was craving for some ramyeon. So here’s korean ramyeon with chye sim and roasted duck (some leftovers from dinner).

Now, it’s back to studying. And then an episode of my korean drama after all the studying! Aja aja:)

169: Peanut Butter Cupcakes and Matryoshka Dolls

Made some peanut butter cupcakes this morning! To me, anything peanut butter-ish is simply rresistible!

And my dearest sister bought me the matryoshka doll (russian doll) necklace I love, for my belated birthday present! It may be a few weeks late but I really really appreciate it a lot. I remember pacing around Accessorize (over at Ion Orchard and also at Raffles City SC), hesitating whether to get the necklace a not. In the end, fickle me decided not to get it. And I’ve been regretting it ever since! But it’s been ages since I’ve been to town, so I’ve completely forgotten about this lovely necklace. But it was a lovely surprise that my sis got me the necklace! I really love it a lot. Thank you, E!

I love everything with matryoshka dolls (russian dolls)! I saw online that Diva is selling the matryoshka dolls ear studs! And it’s super adorable! But I don’t have the chance to go down to town just to get the ear studs. Life is just so busy nowadays. I’ve been merely commuting from home to school and from school to back home theย  past many weeks and months. After the exams, I’ll definitely want to do some physical shopping in town! I want to drop by Accessorize too! I want to get those whimsical, vintage necklaces and bracelets and accessories! Haha, I’m slowly building up my accessories stash!

And here’s my lovely teddy (her name’s Macy, I don’t exactly know why I decided to name her that) with my lovely russian doll necklace! Much loved:)

168: Prosecutor Princess, Personal Preference & Cinderella’s Sister

The new Wednesday and Thursday 21:55pm korean drama timeslot is looking really really good!

There’s the drama I’ve been looking forward to, Prosecutor Princess (๊ฒ€์‚ฌ ํ”„๋ฆฐ์„ธ์Šค) featuring Kim So Yeon and Park Shi Hoo.

I’ve just watched the first two episodes of ๊ฒ€์‚ฌ ํ”„๋ฆฐ์„ธ์Šค and I’m really liking this drama lot. There were quite a few funny parts and I must look really silly laughing to my computer screen. Kim So Yeon is great as Ma Hye Ri. It’s quite surprisingly that it was only a few months ago that Kim So Yeon acted in IRIS as Sun Hwa, a character I liked a lot. And I am really liking Park Shi Hoo too! I think he’s really cute! I caught a few episodes of Family’s Honour on TV in which he acted in. He’s got a very nice smile, I’m attracted to guys with nice smiles! Haha, with two of my favourite korean actor and actress, how not to miss! And for the first two episodes, it’s been pretty good so far. And Park Shi Hoo’s character is a pretty mysterious one. Haha:)

And yes, the other drama is Personal Preference (๊ฐœ์ธ์˜ ์ทจํ–ฅ)! Another drama to watch!

Yes, it’s Lee Min Ho’s first drama after the ever famous Boys Over Flowers. And in this drama, he’s going to act as a straight guy pretending to be gay. Really interesting, huh. And there’s Son Ye Jin too! She’s another one of my favourite korean actress, really pretty too. So far, it’s been pretty good too! One should expect more laughs in coming few episodes! I just caught the first episode. I’m watching this too.

The final drama will be Cinderella’s Sister (์‹ ๋ฐ๋ ๋ผ ์–ธ๋‹ˆ).

The plot sounds pretty interesting here! According to dramawiki,

A modern day adaptation of Cinderella with a twist as our Cinderella, Goo Hyo Sun, is loved by everyone whereas her stepsister, Eun Jo, has a dark past and struggles with the fact that her mother starts to care more for Hyo Sun than her.

I haven’t caught any episodes yet! But I will get down to watching the first episode probably tonight when I have more time! Actors in the drama, I can only recognise Moon Geun Young and 2pm’s Ok Taecyeon!

But ratings wise, for the first two episodes, Cinderella’s Sister is topping the timeslot, followed by Personal Preference and finally, Prosecutor Princess. But I really think I’m more inclined to liking Prosecutor Princess and Personal Preference! ๐Ÿ™‚ But who knows? The situation might just change.

But right now, I’m really excited and I really want to catch the next episode (Episode 3) of Prosecutor Princess and episode 2 of Personal Preference! But for Prosecutor Princess, I got to wait till next Wednesday. So sad. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ It’s terrible having to wait.
